Special Edition, Deluxe Games for January 2023
Devil May Cry 5 and two Life is Strange games lead the January slate of free games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium subscribers. Beginning January 17, higher-tier PS Plus users will have access to the previously critically-acclaimed title, in which you hack and slash your way through a hellish incursion as the seeds of a “demon tree” take root in Red Grave City. Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will be available on PS5 — the PS4 version will be available to PS Plus Extra customers as well.
Back 4 Blood, which continues the action theme, is also available on the platform. The game allows you to team up with up to three other players to hunt down zombies, gather resources, and survive progressively difficult missions. Back 4 Blood will be available on both the PS4 and the PS5.
If you enjoy narrative-driven games, check out Life is Strange, an award-winning episodic adventure. You play Max Caulfield, a senior photographer who discovers the ability to rewind time and becomes involved in a case involving many missing adolescent girls in Arcadia Bay.
PlayStation Plus Game Catalog lineup for January includes:
➕ Back 4 Blood
➕ Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition

The prequel, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, follows in January’s PS Plus higher-tier offerings, and tells the story of a 16-year-old rebel named Chloe Price who forms an unexpected relationship with the uber-popular Rachel Amber. Both Life is Strange games will be available on PS4. In a similar spirit, we have Erica this month, an FMV, full-motion video, interactive thriller in which you affect the decisions and consequences of the titular woman, who is tortured by nightmares about her father’s death.
In Dragon Ball FighterZ, you may create your own team of characters and hone your skills to master tag-team combos in 3v3 battles. The game’s included story mode sets you against Android 21, a brand-new character created by mangaka Akira Toriyama himself. Then, strap in your wingsuit and feel free to blow up structures as you cycle between different weapons and vehicles in the action-packed Just Cause 4: Reloaded.
Sony announced the list on its PlayStation Blog, showing all of the new games that will be accessible to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers in January. Three Far Cry games were released last month, along with Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, to mention a few.
